Father's Day holds a lot of significance in my life because of the journey that I've taken, and still continue with my son. As dads, we try to protect our children from the dangers of the world. When my son was diagnosed with brain cancer at five years old, I felt absolutely helpless. It was something I couldn't protect him from. However, it was something that I could be by his side and help carry him in the moments when he needed me to carry him.
This piece is to recognize portions of my son's journey that I've been allowed to take with him. My hope is that it does the same for everyone else.
