the sample: vol. 1
The first volume of three, the sample vol. 1 introduces my first silhouette as an independent shoe designer and opens up the discussion of trauma. This shoe is a manifestation of my own journey of coping and healing from addressing with my own mental health.
I chose the color black to represent the darkness we often enter when experiencing trauma. The mixture of textiles; pebbled leather, long haired suede, and short haired suede, all speak to the unpredictable terrain within those moments. The cream, EVA foam midsole provides comfort for your feet, acknowledging that we can find comfort in darkness. The raw, foam edge collar speaks to vulnerability in that dark space and even the physical and/or mental abrasions we experience. A prescription label is printed on the midsole, signifying that they are prescribed to use as needed or as symptoms persist. The box is a manifestation of emotions that exited during the design process.
My hope is that people will not only see value in the premium materials, but also in the message. When this trilogy ends, you'll want to make sure you have all three volumes for the culminating message and to see the shoe evolve. Maybe it helps others themselves grow and evolve in their own mental health journey.
*Sizing. Shoes run true to size and are listen in men's whole sizes.
If you wear a half size, we recommend going down to the nearest full size. (Example: if you wear a men's size 10.5, size down to a size 10).
For women's sizing, size up 1.5 sizes from the sizes shown. (Example: A men's size 8 converts to a women's size 9.5). If that size lands on a half size, we recommend going down to the nearest full size.
If you prefer a snug fit, we recommend going down a full size.
